RALLY AND CANDLELIGHT VIGIL IN SAN DIEGO
PART OF A NATIONAL MOVEMENT TO EXPOSE INJUSTICE AND SAY, ‘THERE IS A FAMILY COURT CRISIS:
STOP GIVING CHILDREN TO ABUSERS!’
September 11, 2009 4 p.m. to Dusk
CALIFORNIA PROTECTIVE PARENTS ASSOCIATION, SAN DIEGO
COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO FAMILY COURT WATCH
SAN DIEGO, CA: A group of local citizen-activists say the Jaycee Lee Dugard case isn’t the only example of public officials failing to recognize or investigate abuse, that in fact family court judges, minors’ counsels and court appointed psychologists are turning a blind eye to abuse every day.
Dozens of Protective Parents, Children’s Rights Advocates and Court Watchers will unite in front of the San Diego Family Court, at 4pm on Friday, September 11, to highlight the problem of court officials not listening to or protecting children when they report abuse. Organizers say that, “too often children are taken away from protective parents and are forced to live with abusers. We are demanding change! Candles will be lit at dusk for all the children who have been harmed or killed by Family Court incompetence or corruption. This not only affects the children, but reflects a substantial community interest.”
WHO: Joyce Murphy, Protective Parent whose case has garnered national attention, along with other Protective Parents, advocates and community members.
